When should I start to look for my Wedding Dress?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions from Brides who are freshly engaged and find they are under pressure from family to start planning and booking immediately due to the excitement of the announcement.
12-18 months before your booked wedding date is when you should start trying on wedding dresses to find ‘The One’ for your special day.
We all use the internet to view items we are looking to buy. It helps us to source goods and gives us an idea of pricing. Starting by looking at images online is a great way to look at the current Bridal designers, current styles available and the shops that sell them.
The general advice is to plan your dress journey visiting no more than 3 shops and trying on no more than 12 dresses. This is where your research skills come in. Locating the styles or designers you like and finding local shops that stock them. Visits at most Bridal shops are by appointment to ensure you are given private time to try on and choose your wedding dress without interruption and with full guidance and support of the stylist allocated to you.
After following the above advice we often find that Brides are now overwhelmed with the number of designers, choice of styles and price points available. Realising they literally do not know what their body shape is or suits.
Here at La Fleur Bridal we have a solution in the form of our Style & Fit Appointment. Which has been designed to help those who really don’t know where to start and need guidance in styling with no sales pressure adding to the mix. It is tailored to each Bride that books onto it and provides an insight into the designs and styling available. Please follow the link below for more information.
But back to the original question.
Starting 12 -18 months before the confirmed wedding date allows time for appointments to try on and choose your gown knowing there is time for delivery should the shop not have your size in store. It also allows time for appointments with the seamstress for those little tweaks the gown will need to tailor it to you. This planning allows you to be stress free in the run up to the big day and will create fond memories of the preparations.
